Filled with great food, great rides and of course the famous rodeo, there's something for everyone at the Stampede.

The Greatest Outdoor Show On Earth

One area I found myself coming back to was the Monster Energy Compound, across from the Saddledome, to take in some freestyle motocross.
Riders threw down crazy tricks on this jump, like styled-out grabs and even flips, with an industrial backdrop and of course, plenty of fire.
The Calgary Stampede may be over 100 years old, but no one can say it hasn't evolved with the times. The event is a great combination of modern and traditional.

Carnival Eats

The Stampede attracts a diverse range of food vendors and consumers. My brain went into sensory overload from all of the good smells. Highlights for me were the bloomin' onion and the corn dogs.

The Star Of Stampede

For me, the highlight of my time at the Stampede was seeing one of the biggest cows I have ever come across. My first thought was, this animal could feed an entire village. He had his own special display for visitors to marvel at.

There were also horses and other farm animals for kids to be able to get close have a fun, educational time.

I returned home from the Stampede feeling energized and inspired. There's a really something substantial and cultural that underpins what on the surface might just look like any other fair or festival. One thing is for sure - I can't wait to come back!
